The actor Karthi is playing the role of the second emperor Arunmozhivarman later ruled the empire as RajaRaja I. The story of the film is about these characters struggling with conspiracies of their enemies for the power of the Chola Kingdom.

While Tamil actress Trisha plays the role of the daughter of Sundara Chola Kandivali. Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is playing the role of Nandini, wife of the finance minister of the kingdom Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar.
