Indian Female Hockey Team 2023
The Indian Female Hockey Team 2023 is also known as the Nabhvarna. It represents India in international field hockey and is managed by Hockey India. On 17th December 2022, the Indian Female Hockey Squad won the inaugural of the FIH Women’s Hockey Nations Cup with a 1-0 score against Spain. With this victory, the nation’s female hockey squad has been promoted to the FIH Hockey Women’s Pro League 2023-2024. It is the main event of the next Paris Olympic and Asian Games 2024.

Team India scored their first penalty corner in the sixth minute. Defender Gurjit Kaur slashed all the crucial goals in the penalty corner of the sixth minute. Hockey India declared a cash price of INR 2 lakh for each player of the Indian Female Hockey Squad. Also, INR 1 lakh for each Indian Support Staff member.
Recently, the team won the title of the Best Team in Asia. The team has won many medals and tournaments for India. Nabhvarna won gold medals in the 1982 Asian Games and 2002 Commonwealth Games. Moreover, the team also won the Women’s Asia Cup in 2004 and 2017. In 2016, Nabhvarna won the Asian Champion Trophy.

Indian Hockey Squad Captain 2023
One of the Goalkeepers of the Indian Female Hockey team, Savita Punia, is the captain of the Indian Female Hockey Team 2023. Defender Deep Grace Ekka is the vice-captain of the Indian Female Hockey Team 2023. Due to her outstanding performance in the 2020 Summer Olympics, captain Savita Punia is known as the “Great Wall of India.”
Indian Female Hockey Coach 2023
Former Dutch international hockey player Janneke Schopman is the coach of the Indian Female Hockey Team 2023. She used to play as a defender for the Netherlands National Team and the Dutch club HC Den Bosch. She started her career as a coach of the women’s squad of the Dutch club SCHC in 2010.
In January 2020, Janneke Schopman became the analytical Coach of the Indian Female Hockey team. She became the Head Coach after the previous head coach, Sjoerd Marijine, declined the extension of her contract after the Tokyo Olympics.

Indian Female Hockey Squad Ranking 2023
Currently, the Nabhvarna, Indian Female Hockey Squad, is in 6th rank in the FIH World Rankings. The Indian Female Hockey Team is ranked as the best team in Asia. It is the best-ever ranking for the Indian Female Hockey Team. The Indian team is now placed above Spain with 2029.396 points.
The Chief Coach of the Indian Female Hockey Squad, Janneke Schopman, said- “As a team, we aim to improve and grow and become a consistent contender in Women’s Hockey. The rise in the FIH World Rankings is a nice indicator that we are on the right path.”
The Captain of the Indian Female Hockey Squad, Savita Punia, also made a statement about the achievement. She said- “This is the outcome of all the hard work our team has done over the past few months. We have worked together as a team against strong competition and achieved good results, and we are proud that we are growing and learning together as a unit.”
