ATP Ranking 2023
The Association of Tennis Professionals used a merit-based method to determine the entry qualification and the seeding of performers in all singles and doubles tournaments. The first singles ranking was broadcasted on 23 August 1973, in which Theodoriu Nastase got the World’s Number 1 rank, and he was in this position till 2 June 1974. At the same time, the ranking of doubles for the first time was given on 1 March 1976, which Bob Hewitt conquered on 1 March and Raul Ramirez on 12 April.

While Women are ranked on the merit-based system through the Women’s Tennis Association. The first time the ranks were given through a computerised system on 3 November 1975, which Chris Evert won. The first time doubles ranking was issued in 1984, and Martina Navratilova, the greatest tennis player of all time, got the first position. She also won singles 18 times and ten major mixed doubles.
The ranking for the top player’s position depends on the points they score by playing in a tournament. These points depend on the size of the tournament and its importance. If a player wins a Grand Slam, they can get 200 points, but they will only get one point for the APT Future first main-round draw. The ranking on ATP and WTA depends on the best results over a year of a player. But here is a 52-week logic in which the player who gained the maximum points over the previous 52 weeks will be in the top position.
